Two security guards attached to the Mae’s Private School, are claiming that they have been wrongfully dismissed from their jobs. Iantia Mc Rae, and Derek Morrison who resides at 68 Campbellville, Georgetown, are alleging that on August 30, and on September 17 respectively, they were dismissed from the said institution without recourse to due process or natural law.
The two security guards stated they were employed with the institution for close to a year and on the mentioned dates, they were summoned to the school’s administrator office and served with dismissal letters.
“All they do is give us the dismissal letters and told us that our service is no longer required,” complained Mc Rae.
Mc Rae told the Kaieteur News that a few weeks ago, she was asked by a senior official to sign a letter which would have constituted evidence against a colleague. She said that she declined.
That colleague was also relieved of her employment and has since moved to the courts for redress.
Mc Rae and Morrison are also alleging denial of meal allowances and other services by the school. Efforts made by Kaieteur News to contact the Principal of the institution proved futile despite several attempts.
Ms. Mae French, chief administrator of the school, is currently on self-bail. She appeared last week in front of Acting Chief Magistrate (ag), Priya Beharry on charges instituted by the Ministry of Labour.
