Baby in latrine…
As the police continue their investigation into the death of eighth- month-old Unita Charles, a post mortem examination is inconclusive.
The post mortem was performed yesterday by Government Pathologist, Dr. Nehaul Singh in the presence of the mother, 18-year-old Sita Charlie at the Georgetown Public Hospital Mortuary.
According to a police source, now that they have not been able to ascertain the cause of death they have sent to the Director of Public Prosecution for advice.
This newspaper was told that samples from the baby were removed for further tests. On Thursday last, the baby was found in a latrine aback of her mother’s house at Parika Façade, East Bank Essequibo.
The discovery was made by some neighbours in the area who had missed the child for a few days.
The child was last seen alive on September 12, last.
