The mechanic who physically assaulted an R.K security guard, Sunday night, remains in police custody while the victim is now a patient at the Suddie Public Hospital Corporation.
According to the police, 54-year-old Leonard Raghubeer, the guard, of Adventure Village, Essequibo Coast, was on duty at the Suddie Hospital when the incident occurred.
Raghubeer, the guard, was approached by one, Ryan Coonjah, a mechanic attached to the Guyoil Terminal at Adventure Stelling Road, Essequibo Coast. According to the police, Coonjah who was visiting the hospital at the time, was also under the influence of alcohol.
He was reportedly asked by Mr. Raghubeer about the nature of his visit. The report continued that Coonjah responded violently with several cuffs and kicks about the 54-year-old man’s body.
Police said that Coonjah fled the scene shortly after the incident and was apprehended early yesterday morning at his home at Suddie Housing Scheme.
