Vivian Harris’ career at the crossroads following humiliating knockout loss

Harris’ world title dreams deflated when he suffered a one-sided third round blowout against world rater, Victor ‘Vicious’ Ortiz last Saturday at the Staples Center, Los Angeles.
Ortiz’ record has improved to 28-2-1, 22 KOs while Harris’ has dropped to 29-5-1, 19 KOs. Reports are that Ortiz attacked from the onset and Harris, who has been away from the ring for quite sometime, could find no answer for the onslaught.
Ortiz dropped Harris three times in round two and once in the third before the referee mercifully waved off the proceedings at 45secs into the round.
When Kaieteur Sport spoke with former bantamweight champion Daurius Ford at the Jackie Gleasons gym, Brooklyn earlier in the week, he had underlined the importance of a win for Harris.
Forde had pointed out that both Harris and Ortiz were handled by Oscar De LaHoya, the head of Golden Boys Promotions.
Ford had also labeled the bout as a must win situation for Harris whose career has taken a nosedive in recent times. It is not yet ascertained whether Harris would decide to call it a day or whether he has plans to continue fighting.
Meanwhile, the main bout between multi-division World Champion, Shane Mosley (46-6-1, 39 KOs) and former WBC champion, Sergio Mora ended in a draw.
Reports from fightnews.com stated that the first half of the fight was a dull affair with neither of the fighters willing to take unnecessary chances.
The report continued that the fight was a bit more competitive after Mora slowed down in the latter rounds for several toe to toe confrontations.
