Chief Executive Officer of the Cheddi Jagan International Airport, Timehri, Ramesh Ghir, yesterday reassured the traveling public that all the services at the airport are back to normal.
Ghir said that all the services were back to normal the very day the flooding occurred. He further noted that there has been no record of damage at the airport since there was only water covering the flooring in some sections of the airport.
He added that the situation has been rectified and the necessary repairs done.
Ghir went on to specify that it was not a sewerage problem but that a water main had been broken.
Last Tuesday morning, three flights— one Delta Airline and two Caribbean Airline flights were delayed as a result of flooding at the airport.
Initial reports were that an underground water main broke, causing the flooding. Some sections of the airport were under water.
The facility was without electricity for some time.
