Dear Editor,
Thanks for confirming the identity of Mr. Harry Gill and the relationship he shares with a regional executive member of the PNCR. This is interesting to note, though it is not the central issue of our argument as much as Mr. Gill seems more preoccupied with the man he assumes is behind me.
Mr.Gill should not try to sidetrack the argument centered on the PNCR elections and the lawlessness of the continued campaign to derail the results. This is strange behaviour for one who has so many opinions to express on so many issues relevant to governance.
Mr. Gill needs to consult with his brother on the rules governing the party and be guided accordingly. Since he lives in the USA and enjoys the benefits of living in a democratic environment Harry Gill should appreciate that just as he has a right to share his views so too do others. He enjoys the benefits of rules and law and order but promotes the violation of these in the PNCR in support of those who were not the choice of the people.
Mr. Gill in all his recent response has not refuted the report of Joseph Harmon on the PNCR elections and is straying again from the central issue.
Could Mr. Gill take similar arguments he makes to support the lawlessness of a few in the party to the PPP and President Jagdeo who are ravishing Guyana and get Mr. Jagdeo to step down? I am afraid not. He and his desperadoes would have to wait on national elections. They would have to abide by the laws.
Gill’s arguments fall in the realm of the absurd and would be just as ridiculous as If Hillary Clinton supporters campaigned for Barack Obama to step down after he was declared the democratic nominee because they believed that he was not the best choice, incapable of unifying the party or any other argument that suit their fantasy and disrespects the will of the people.
It is just as ridiculous as the Republican tea party supporters calling on Obama to step down because they believe he is not the best choice for the USA.
I suspect that Mr. Harry Gill has been attending these Republican tea parties and has drank too much of tea.
He would do well if he focus attention on the PPP which party is in power and needs to be removed.
He would do well if he advocates that Richard Van West Charles do like Hillary Clinton and say it was not about her and call her supporters to go for the White House as the target.
I challenge Mr. Gill to deal with the central issues and not hide his weak arguments by focusing attention on my writing skills for whether or not I write the letters I sign, or I get help with writing or editing these, is not the central issue.
Mr. Gill must prove that any issues or claims addressed in the content of my letter are wrong.
I B. Beniprashad Rayman challenge Harry Gill to disprove that Robert Corbin received 162 nominations against 21 for Richard Van West Charles and five for Winston Murray from established groups all around the country.
The writing was on the wall long before and Richard Van West Charles knew he could not have won. He needs to stop hiding behind Winston Murray.
I challenge Mr. Gill and those who think like him, to challenge the results put out by Joseph Harmon as regards to the PNCR congress elections. The lengthy quotes made by Mr. Gill are not independent views. These are views from persons who were defeated and peeved. At the end of the day the candidate Winston Murray said, “Yes, I am prepared to accept the results…because the margin is so wide, that even if there were – as I believe there were – flaws in the process and irregularities in the procedures, it is clear that Mr. Corbin would have won,” (SN 7th. September, 2010)
In conclusion, I admire Mr. Murray’s position for speaking the truth and that should be acknowledged.
B. Beniprashad Rayman
