Regal Stationery and Computer Centre inaugural Twenty20 over-35, 25-over softball cricket competition is set to commence tomorrow at various venues across the country.
The competition will be run under the auspices of the Guyana Softball League (GSL) and they will be organizing a female nationwide 10-10 softball competition, which also begins on Sunday.
This week, at the business’ entity, 69 Seaforth Street, Campbellville, Georgetown, Sales Administrator Laikram Gopaul stated that his company was indeed pleased to sponsor these two competitions. He mentioned there will be attractive prizes at stake and feels it will bring unity in the softball fraternity.
GSL organizer Leonard Harprashad, in his remarks, expressed his gratitude to Regal for sponsoring the countrywide competition for over-35 and female softball players, and promised with it will be smoothly-run competitions.
For the male, the winners will receive $100,000 and a trophy, while the runners-up will take home $50,000 and a trophy; man-of-the-match in the final, best batsman and best bowler for the male competition will collect trophies.
In the female category, the champion team is set to receive $50,000 and a trophy, while the runners-up will take home $30,000 and a trophy. Best batter and best bowler, while player-of-the-tournament are set to get trophies as well.
Zone winners from the three counties (Essequibo, Demerara and Berbice) will receive a trophy each. The final for both competitions will be played in mid November with live commentary on National Communications Network Radio.
Entrance fee for the over-35 is $4,000, while the ladies will pay $2,000.
