The Outreach Ministry of the All Saints Presbyterian Scots Church which was formally known as the Church of Scotland situated at Princess Elizabeth Street and Vryheid Road in New Amsterdam recently presented more than 90 Bibles to the female inmates of the New Amsterdam prison.
The presentation was made by Reverend Dr Selby Ross, the Parish priest of the Church to Matron Christine George.
Rev Dr Ross in her remarks to the wardens and prisoners gathered said that it is the will of God that they should have easy access to His word.
The church has been ministering to the female section of the Prison every Thursday for the past two years.
The gesture made sure that every female member of the prison got her own bible. The venture was a joint effort by the Church and the Guyana Bible Society.
Other members of the Church Present were Elders Marion Tinnie, Debra Lewis, Claudette Hamilton, Cicely Crawford and Esther Stephen.
