Fitness Express, Specialists in Health and Fitness Products on Thursday last made a financial contribution to leading National Cyclist Marlon ‘Fishy’ Williams to assist the cyclist in his travels to the XIX Commonwealth Games set for Delhi, India from October 3-14, 2010.
At their John and Sheriff Streets location, Manager Jaime Mc Donald presented the cheque to Williams encouraging him to do himself and Guyana proud at the upcoming Games.
Williams is one of four cyclists selected by the Guyana Cycling Federation (GCF) for the Games. The cyclists are required to each raise US$415 which is part of the cost for them to attend the Games.
Mc Donald said this was the first time he is assisting a cyclist but has been supportive of other disciplines and athletes ever since he opened for business months ago.
“I am quite happy to be assisting such a great athlete who has done very well for Guyana throughout the Caribbean and has the potential to bring more glory to his homeland at these Games in India.”
Williams will be competing in the Time Trials and the 90 miles Road Race and has expressed confidence in doing well.
“I would like to say thank you to Fitness Express and Mr. Mc Donald for supporting me in my quest to excel at the Commonwealth Games. I want to assure you that I will make all Guyanese proud at these Games.”
The other members of the cycling team are Alonzo Greaves, Geron Williams and Enzo Matthews. The team is expected to leave Guyana on September 28.
