Appearing before Chief Magistrate Priya Beharry, yesterday, at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court was Aleen Jaboor, of 7C Good Hope, East Bank Essequibo, who was charged with damage to property.
It is alleged that on Wednesday, the defendant damaged properties owned by Abdul Jaboor valued $270,000.
The defendant, who was unrepresented, pleaded guilty to the charge. He said that the incident was a mistake and he apologised for his actions.
Police Prosecutor Stephen Telford objected to bail on the grounds of the evidence against the defendant.
Telford told the court that on the day in question, the virtual complainant, who is the defendant’s father, told his son to return a bicycle he had borrowed. The defendant and the VC had a confrontation, when the defendant destroyed his father’s belongings.
Magistrate Beharry refused bail and ordered the defendant to make his next court appearance on Monday.
