Farmers’ group to host first ever East Coast Nights

An East Coast Demerara farmers’ association is aiming to celebrate the first ever East Coast Nights and hopefully, internationally recognized local singer, Natural Black, will be on hand to kick off the celebrations.
According to Chairman (ag), Steven Jones, of the Central Mahaicony Perth Village Farmers’ Association, the night of celebrations will take place next month when agricultural activities are being celebrated in Guyana. The association is collaborating with the Ministry of Agriculture for the event, Jones said.
“This mega event would afford farmers of our association, among others, a golden opportunity to showcase and promote their business to the wider Guyana with a variety of local dishes and locally manufactured goods available. The exhibition is also expected to educate farmers and create markets for locally manufacture products.”
The three-night event is set to begin October 22 and is to be held at the Mahaicony Community Centre, the Chairman said. A duck curry competition will bring the curtains down on the celebrations.
Natural Black will be performing on October 23.
The association comprises of 50 members who are involved in livestock rearing and crops cultivation.
