– 32 ranks successful
On Friday last the Felix Austin Police College ‘B’ Division held a graduation ceremony which was held at the facility at Adventure, Corentyne. The Course, 23 B, saw the ranks completing 10 months of training in basic policing, which included training in crime detection, drilling, traffic, and other police operations.
The ranks also had a stint in Anti Crime operations when they spent some time at the TSU headquarters in Georgetown. They were also tutored in English and also spent some time at the University of Guyana, Berbice Campus, doing computering.
Some 34 recruits started the course and 32 completed it.
To the credit of the college, one recruit, Damian Moriah, was admitted to the Cadet Officer (standard Officer) Course being presently conducted by the Guyana Defence Force.
The course instructors include Commandant of the college, Superintendent Ian Amsterdam, Inspector Yonette Stephen, Corporal Marx Wilson, while other officers conducted training in Traffic, Crime etc.
Among those present at the graduation ceremony were Director of the University Of Guyana Berbice Campus, Professor Danzeil Samad, Training Officer of the Guyana Police Force Assistant Commissioner Clinton Conway, Commander ‘B’ Division Assistant Commissioner Steve Merai, Second in Charge of the ‘B’ division Superintendent Lyndon Alves, and Acting Commandant of the College Inspector Yonette Stephen. Commandant Ian Amsterdam is away on annual leave.
