The Theater Guild of Guyana has acknowledged its new corporate sponsors at a simple ceremony Friday evening at the Theatre Guild, Parade Street, Kingston.
The firms that contributed to the refurbishment of the Theater Guild are ALIM Continental agencies, Guyana Power & Light, De Sinco Trading, Guyana Publications Ltd., John Fernandes Ltd., Shivratton and Sons, and Noble Seafoods Company Limited.
Only ALIM Continental agencies and GPL were represented at the ceremony.
The events saw many young people displaying their acting, dancing and vocal talents, yesterday.
According to Malcolm De Freitas, the underlying concept is to show recognition for the corporate sponsors that acknowledge the importance of theater and its sustenance to promote values to open society. “We also teach acting and 17 different aspects of theatre.”
There are two major productions in the pipeline for October, De Freitas said. Makantali by Harold Bascom will be staged from October 27, and Old Story Time will be staged from October 9.
