The little dictators are just comedy acts for Guyanese people to be amused. Guyanese laugh at the little dictators all the time because each time they open their mouths they put their feet inside. Take the latest round.
The mini-tyrants addressed returning Guyanese graduates and told them that a section of the private media wants to take away their future and that some old Guyanese critics of the Government do not realize that their time has passed. One week after uttering these mountainous asininities, let’s see how comical they appeared in the eyes of the nation.
An “old” member of the tyrannical cabal whose time has come a long time ago is yet again on the comedy circuit, and his friends who lecture about the future will preserve him for the future. A few years back he was involved in an incident which the press reported on.
His wife was found dead and he was hospitalized; the cause of death was carried as suicide. He was retained in the Cabinet. This “old” fellow pistol whipped a teenager, then, fired shots above the young man’s head and had the fellow arrested. He was retained in the Cabinet.
Like his colleagues in the tyrannical cabal, he displayed his crass politics by asserting that he would be glad for there to be health disaster over the pile-up of garbage in the city because people would blame the City Council. He was retained in the Cabinet. And why not?
Remember the legal adviser to the tyrannical cabal told the media that when he read in the newspapers that a Minister was engaged in illegal acts he thought he was the Cabinet personality being referred to because he is a person that is prone to be involved in such illegal activities.
Now this “old” member of the dictatorial directorship went and embarrassed his fascist colleagues just days after those returning students were promised a nice future. He slammed into a motorcyclist, failing to render assistance and leaving the scene of an accident. At the time of writing he is still to be charged and he is still in the Cabinet. These “nice”, “pleasant”, “lovely”, things about the generals who rule Nazi-land in Guyana were not read out to the returning students when they were apprised of how mischievous a section of the private media is.
Time wasn’t on the side of the little dictators. No sooner had they finished directing their propaganda to the returning graduates about who wants to deny them their future, the future of young Seema Mangar was ruthlessly taken away in the heart of the city. Mangar’s cell-phone was snatched from her by a robber on a busy afternoon on Camp Street. She ran behind him, chased him down and stood in front of his car. He ran over her and killed her. While this terror was taking place, there weren’t any cops patrolling Camp Street to save Mangar.
Contrast this incident with an incident in West Ruimveldt Thursday morning. The City Council, through an order from the relevant Ministry, set out to demolish more that forty squatting homes to make way for a hymac to de-silt a trench. I arrived there with Mark Benschop and we instructed the residents to defy the demolition crew. Within minutes of the arrival of me and Benschop, the police came. Then the black-clothes came with long guns in hand and began clearing the obstacles put on the road. Call 911 for any terrible crime that you see in front of your eyes and you and the victims will die before the police reach the scene.
When the robber struck and pulled away Mangar’s phone, was 911 called? I saw two youths trying to rob an Amerindian couple on the seawall. I yelled out to 911 on my cell phone. I never got a response. Is this the future of Guyana? Yes it is. Mangar is dead. She was pretty young. She was ambitious. She found herself a job. She was planning for the future?
She never lived to see it. Do Mangar’s parents know that this Government has refused to accept a British offer to reform the police force that would have seen Scotland Yard officers based in Georgetown? By the time this page hits the streets, the little dictators may be at Mon Repos showing Mangar’s parents their crocodile tears. Then these tyrannical oligarchs will go and address other young students and lie to them about the private media. Time for all of us to see this government goes and never return to haunt this country.
