A number of sporting activities have been planned by the principals of the A.Ally and Sons chain of stores and business enterprise in Berbice to highlight their 25th anniversary celebrations.
Millions of dollars have been put aside for promotions, sponsorship and prizes for the various events. This information was passed on to the Media at a recent press briefing at the Caribbean Cuisine Restaurant, East Canje Berbice.
Hoisting the press conference was Chief Executive Officer of the Company, Fizal Ally.
The business entity which has it roots in East Canje now has four stores in Berbice with the main branch being situated at Main Street and Coopers Lane in New Amsterdam. There are other branches at Sheet Anchor Village, East Canje, Stand New Amsterdam and Corriverton, Corentyne.
The company has planned a series of elaborate activities with sports playing a significant part of the plans as it observes its 25th year in existing this year.
Most of the activities will take place this month with a few spilling over to October. Among the sporting activities planned is a national one day chess competition to be held in New Amsterdam and will attract all the top chess players in Guyana.
A 25th anniversary cycle road race in Berbice, which will also be open to all cyclists in Guyana, has also been planned. Sponsorship for horse racing, a Spelling Bee and other interschool and other youth and community activities are among other events on the drawing board.
Fizal Ally said that the company, apart from its 25th anniversary celebrations, its also part of its obligation to give back to the community from which they garner their support.
He said that it is an honour and a privilege to be able to serve the public, in one way or the other.
