Edward Isaacs, a New York-based Guyanese has expressed total frustration with Caribbean Airlines after making a booking for a trip to Guyana on July 22, for return to the USA on August 21.
However, Isaacs said that when he turned up at the airport and presented his passport for departure on that day, he was told that his name was not on the manifest for that flight.
“I immediately called my daughter, who had returned to the States one week before, and told her of my predicament. She immediately made contact with the booking clerk, who informed her that I should have been on that flight.
After a few minutes they brought me a paper showing that I should have been on a flight that left at 6:20 a.m. We exchanged a few strong words, and I advised them to inform me of any changes.
To date I have received no word from them,” Isaacs related.
The frustrated man said that he was later told to check with the airline’s office in Georgetown. He did that on August 23, when he was told by one of the clerks there that his flight should have been on August 6. Isaacs said that he pointed out to her that throughout they were making mistakes.
He again called his daughter, who once more called the bookings office, who then advised him to keep checking with them via telephone.
Isaacs said that has proven to be a total waste of time, as nobody answers the telephone when he calls, and when he travels to Georgetown, the ‘system’ there is always down.
The man said that he has incurred a lot of expenses travelling to and fro, and the frustrating thing is that he is not getting anywhere. He said he needs a definite answer from Caribbean Airlines, as he certainly cannot continue to be ‘running’ at their office.
Isaacs said that he is at his wits end. He is now not sure whether he still has a job, as he was to return to work in New York since August 23.
