Dear Editor,
I am at the brink of my frustration. In fact, I am infinitely upset! As a student of the University of Guyana (UG), the things that I have had to endure are just plain unsettling. Like many other students, I am utterly unimpressed with this institution. Actually Mr. Editor, I very much anticipate my day of departure from this place. The online registration programme that was setup to simplify the treacherous ordeal of having to stand for hours in long lines in the scorching Guyana sun, does not amply answer the needs of students. We are still required to line up for long hours at the Student Loan Agency, in order to get our loan applications processed and approved.
We are already into the second week of the semester, and these people still cannot decide what the timetable really is. I am still running around, trying to find out once and for all, whether my courses are Tuesdays or Wednesdays, Mondays or Fridays, and who the lecturers really are, all because the people responsible for this at UG, cannot make up their minds.
Every time the timetable changes, I am forced to purchase a new one. This could all be avoided, if only these people will recognise the need to improve their system. It is clear that the University of Guyana has no intentions of becoming organised. We the students deserve so much better. Something has to be done to correct this.
Frustrated Student
