As police continue their probe into last Saturday night’s execution-style attack which left five dead including a toddler, a male individual has been taken into police custody. This newspaper was told that the man, a popular Chutney artiste, was detained some time on Wednesday.
According to reports, it is believed that the man may have had something to do with sourcing the cocaine.
Earlier this week, Commissioner of Police Henry Greene said the information received so far suggests that the killing was as a result of a drug deal gone sour. According to the Top Cop, one of the dead men, Steve Jupiter, and his colleagues were reportedly given some nine kilos of cocaine to deliver to someone, but only handed over two kilos to the person.
“They (Jupiter and his colleagues) reportedly told the person who gave it to them that the police seized the rest of the cocaine.”
On Saturday night last, Jupiter, his son 3-year-old Christopher Jupiter, his reputed wife, Fiona Singh, deportee Christopher Gordon and Sherwin Jerome were shot and killed. The five were about to leave a Second Street Cummings Lodge residence after picking up the toddler and his mother. As they were leaving the area, two cars reportedly drove up and the occupants discharged dozens of rounds at the vehicle in which they were travelling.
When the gunfire subsided the three men’s bodies bore multiple gunshot wounds. Jupiter, Gordon and Jerome were pronounced dead on arrival while Singh and her son died while receiving treatment.
