Following the restart of the second and final round of the Guyana Football Federation Super League, the Female Inter Association 2nd round will get cracking on Sunday at the GFC Ground in the City.
Defending champions Georgetown in their quest to retain championship honors will be match skills with East Demerara from 16:00hrs.
In the first round clash which was contested at the Enmore Community Centre Ground, Georgetown made light work of East Demerara hammering them, 7-0. The East Demerarians will be putting that result behind them and are coming to Sunday’s game with a positive mindset as they seek to turn the tables.
The East Coast side has been hard at preparation at the Buxton Ground under Coach Leroy Ridley.
In last year’s competition Georgetown played unbeaten but this year they have already been held to two draws by Region 9 (Lethem) and Linden an indication that their rival Associations are doing their home work.
The City side too has been going through their paces and will be thinking of a repeat performance. They will be led by ‘Lady Jags’ goalkeeper Ronette Cort and defender Collette Hope who have been called again to prepare for Guyana’s participation in the CONCACAF Gold Cup for the first time in Cancun, Mexico next month end into November.
The other Associations competing in the tournament are Region 9 (Lethem), Linden and Bartica. Berbice played last year but was unable to field a team this year due to a variety of reasons.
Competition will continue on Saturday September 18 when Bartica play host to Linden at their Community Centre Ground from 18:00hrs. Region 9 (Lethem) will be in action against East Coast on Wednesday 22 at the GFC Ground from 17:00hrs.
