Dependable Spares of Eccles, East Bank Demerara is maintaining their relationship with the Queenstown based Demerara Cricket Club (DCC) which began last year.
Yesterday, Manager of the entity Joshua Garraway handed over 30 coloured uniforms and caps worth $300,000 to Guyana utility player Christopher Barnwell and West Indies youth opener Trevon Griffith who received the uniforms on behalf of their team.
President of DCC and former Guyana under-19 batsman Alfred Mentore described the occasion as another good day in the history of the Queenstown club.
“Certainly this is another good day in the life of DCC, as we are continuing from where we left off with Coach Gavin Nedd’s summer camp, wherein three of our national players in Travis Dowlin, Christopher Barnwell and Derwin Christian made a commitment towards the development of an indoor facility at the club,” Mentore said.
“Dependable Spares has provided uniforms for our first division team for two years now and we are thankful and grateful to them for this generosity, as it not only shows their commitment to the club, but sports in general” stated Mentore.
Mentore said the uniforms provided by the sponsors was done with good faith, as the club went onto win the national T20 championships last year shortly after receiving their first set of uniforms.
Mentore who said the first donation from Dependable Spares was worth $250,000, thanked Garraway and ‘his boss’ Salim Paul for their continued support while DCC’s Club Captain Ron Amos also spoke yesterday at the simple presentation at the East Bank Demerara location.
Garraway said the company was happy to be able to make the donation to the club and pledged continued support in the future since they are happy with the work of the DCC executives.
