Dear Editor,
I recently visited Guyana and was appalled at what I saw happening to my beloved country. Some in the PPP called it progress, others described it as development, and many viewed it as improvement.
But whatever it is, the fact is a nation’s development is measured by the improvement in the living standards of its people. If as President Jagdeo says that Guyana is developing then why the vast majority of Guyanese are still in dire poverty and are getting poorer by the moment, while those in the PPP are becoming wealthier by the minute. Why the land of many waters cannot supply adequate and clean running water to its people?
Where else in the Caribbean or in the world you see firefighters having to pump water from canals to put out fires in the city? Why do we have fire hydrants without water? Why the streets in Georgetown and its suburbs have such huge pot holes? Why most of the traffic lights in the city are not working?
Why the drains in the city are clogged and the city stinks? What type of regime will allow hundreds of Guyanese to make the city pavements their place of abode, only the PPP regime? Why are there constant power outages in Guyana after more than 18 years of PPP rule? Why the public hospitals are in disarray and the public schools are in shambles? Why President Jagdeo and the PPP have refused to preserve the historic buildings in the city?
Why police conduct desperado raids only on poor black communities? Why the police harass only black young men in the country? Why Indians and not blacks are getting the highest paid jobs in the country?
Why Jagdeo and the PPP regime are not persecuting the drug lords in Guyana? Why would Kellwan Lall, Minister of Local Government wish for a massive outbreak of diseases and death on the population of Georgetown? Why 99 percent of all government contracts are awarded to only certain contractors? Why the embassies and consulates of Guyana are staffed predominantly by one ethnicity? Why the black communities throughout the country are in a state of collapse while other villages are developing? What are the official duties and functions of Luncheon, Lumumba, and Kwame other than that of being house slaves for the racist PPP regime?
I have concluded that President Jagdeo and the PPP regime are racist based on the latter questions.
The former questions are clear indications that Guyana is developing but only for a few Guyanese. It is very cruel for the PPP regime to use taxpayers’ resources to increase their wealth and at the same time discriminate against others.
This is a blatant disregard and contempt for the people of Guyana by President Jagdeo and the PPP. It is tragic that decent minded people who love Guyana are not speaking out against such human catastrophe and atrocities.
Why Corbin and the opposition have not protest against these flagrant abuses by President Jagdeo and his racist regime is beyond me? If this is not apartheid being practiced by Jagdeo and the PPP in Guyana, then I do not know what is? Guyanese should take heed, stand up and remove this racist regime from power.
