A 24-year-old man from Cane Grove, Mahaica, is currently in police custody assisting with investigations after he reportedly chopped another man to death at 14 Miles Issano.
Reports are that sometime around 04:00 hours on Tuesday, 58-year-old Vincent Williams called ‘Teddy bear’ was involved in an argument with another male, over a female, at a shop in Issano, when a fight broke out.
This newspaper was told that Williams’ attacker who was reportedly under the influence of alcohol whipped out a cutlass and started chopping him.
Reports are that the assailant was about to leave the scene, but persons who witnessed the incident managed to hold and tie him up until the police arrived. The suspect was handed over.
Williams was eventually brought out to the Bartica Hospital where he was pronounced dead on arrival at around 01:30 hours yesterday.
Williams had been employed with R&S Mining as a cook.
