Yesterday morning, hours after the photograph of wanted man Tyrone Kacey Rowe called ‘Cobra’ was published in sections of the media, the police swooped down on a house at Crane, West Coast Demerara, but the elusive gunman was not at the location.
According to reports, residents of the area had noticed a man occupying an ‘abandoned’ house in the area but never thought anything of it. However having seen ‘Cobra’s’ photograph residents are quite sure it was the same person who was occupying the premises.
One resident of the area who spoke to this newspaper said about a month ago, the lone occupant of the house who was a senior citizen, died.
“When dis lady dead she family come back in de country fuh bury she and since dey gone back dis boy move in.”
According to residents, no one ever paid much attention to the young man as he never interfered with anyone, but was in the habit of entertaining other young men in the evening and girls from the community. They said sometime the house would be empty for days and then the young man would show up again.
However persons said they were forced to call the police yesterday as the individual who was occupying the house bore a striking resemblance to the wanted person.
Around 10:00 hours yesterday police swarmed the area surrounding the house but came up empty-handed, after a thorough search was conducted on the house and the area.
Up to late yesterday evening there was a high police presence in the Crane area.
On Monday, police released a photo of Rowe, who law enforcement officials say is wanted for questioning in relation to murder and armed robberies. He is 17 years of age (born 15th September, 1992), 160cm in height, of medium build and dark in complexion. His last known addresses are 268 Independence Boulevard, Albouystown, and 203 Charlotte Street, Lacytown.
Persons with information on Rowe’s whereabouts should contact the police on telephone numbers 22-56411, 22-67065, 22-61326, 22-56940-43, 22-58196, 22-62917, 22-71270, 22-71149, 911 or the nearest police station.
All information will be treated with the strictest confidence and callers can remain anonymous.
Police have issued a $1M reward for the capture of Rowe.
