Doctors at the Caribbean Heart Institute (CHI) yesterday operated on Commissioner-General of the Guyana Revenue Authority, Khurshid Sattaur, after he had suffered chest pains.
Yesterday, a source at the CHI said that Sattaur came to the hospital and following tests, it was discovered that he had a blocked artery.
Doctors managed to insert two stents into the blocked vessels and Sattaur was said to be resting comfortably.
“He can start walking and even working tomorrow (today),” a hospital official said last evening.
Sattaur was reportedly suffering chest pains for a while now, with the situation worsening over the past week.
Contacted last evening, CHI’s Interventional Cardiologist, Dr. Pratik Soni, confirmed that an operation was done on Sattaur, but declined to go into details.
A coronary stent is a tube placed in the coronary arteries that supply the heart, to keep the arteries open in the treatment of coronary heart disease.
