Yet another US citizen has been caught trying to smuggle cocaine out at the Cheddi Jagan International Airport.
According to reports reaching this newspaper, around 14:30 hours yesterday the suspect was attempting to board BWIA flight 424 when he was stopped and his luggage searched by ranks of the Customs Anti Narcotics Unit.
A search revealed that his suitcase had a false bottom, in which a white powdered substance was found. It was later tested positive for cocaine weighing seven kilos.
The man is currently in custody assisting with investigations.
