$10M up for grabs, over 100 horses entered in ten race event

The Jumbo Jet Auto Sales and Racing Stables in collaboration with the Rising Sun Turf club is pulling out all the stops to make sure that the mega horse race meet set for this Sunday at the Rising Sun Turf Club, Arima Park, West Coast Berbice comes off with a bang.
The organisers have added another race to the days programme bringing the compliment to 10 and with over 100 horses entered so far. Preparations are winding down to make the race meet the event of the year. The organisers have put together a gargantuan package which amount to over $10M in prizes, trophies and other memorabilia in what is the richest horse race meet held annually in Guyana and arguably the riches sporting event in the Country.
With the kind of prizes on offer one of the largest field of racehorses have taken entry with a large collection also being placed on the reserve list as every stable makes their pitch for a share of the hefty sums of money on offer.
Most of the stables were up to news time doing last minute grooming of their animals as they whipped them in shape for the big day.
The main feature event for horses classified C and Lower will see the animals competing over 1600M with the winner romping away with the enormous $1.2M takings and trophy on offer.
The Co feature 3 yr old event for horses Bred and Born in Guyana and the West Indies which has been renamed the Zenyatta Memorial will also be going over a distance of 1600M. A sumptuous $1M has been put up for the winner in this event.
The E class and lower 1400M event will see the winner coasting away with a tantalizing $600,000.
There are two races for two year old horses. The first event is for 2 yr old West Indies Bred horses with the winner sprinting away with the $800,000 top prize.
The other two year old event is for horses bred and born in Guyana with see the winner getting away with $400,000.
The ‘G’ and Lower winning prize is worth $400,000. The H and lower champion will get $300,000 for its effort of winner the 1100M race. The ‘I’ and Lower winning stake is set at $200,000. Those running in the Division 1&2 category event will be aiming to take away the $100,000 first prize on offer.
A new event for I & Lower (Winner of 1 Race) has its first prize tagged at $150,000.
A number of added attractions will be at part of the day’s proceedings including games for Adults and children.

Popular Sound System will be in the house with beverages provided by Banks BIH Limited with Chester fried Chicken and BBQ on sale. According to event coordinator Melissa Chattergoon patrons are urged to come out early and in their numbers to witness the event of the summer and have a great time.
She said that top jockeys from Guyana and overseas will be on show. Reports from across the country have seen most of the stables in over drive as they heighten their preparations for the big day.
The event will be run under the Rules of the Guyana Horse racing Authority.
