The action on the opening night was pulsating. Football fans were treated to football of an exceptional quality when Bourda and Mahdia Markets recorded victories over Parika and East Ruimveldt Markets, respectively to set the mark for what is expected to be a tournament of action packed encounters.
Well, if the first night was pulsating, the second is anticipated to be enthralling when several of the country’s top teams face off for glory tonight when the Inter-Market Futsal football competition continues this evening with several exciting matches.
The action gets underway at 19:00hrs with Kitty clashing with Houston in another thriller, while Ann’s Grove tackle Merriman’s Mall. New Amsterdam Market and La Penitence Market play in another highly anticipated action packed encounter and Melanie Damishana take on Mocha Market. The action concludes with Stewartville up against Plaisance.
Meanwhile, coordinator of the tournament, O’Neil Durant, is pleased with the level of play so far in the competition. He is urging the public to support the various teams as they attempt to win the premiere prize.
He reserved special mention to all the corporate entities that sponsored the tournament, singling out Banks DIH limited Ltd for special mention.
The beverage giants have put up the first prize of $200,000 and a trophy for the winning team while the runners-up would pocket $150,000.
The third and fourth place finishers would be awarded $100,000 and $50,000, respectively.
There would also be special prizes for the Most Valuable Player, best goal-keeper and the most prolific goal scorer.
