As corporate support continues to pour in for the inaugural mega President’s/Jefford Track and Field Classic, K&B Mining became the latest entity to throw its support behind the meet that will be hosted on August 29 in the Mining Town of Linden.
The mining company yesterday handed over a cheque to President of the Athletics Association of Guyana, Colin Boyce, who together with Edison Jefford is hosting the meet, which is initiated to be the most prestigious forum for local athletes in Guyana.
Boyce thanked the company for their contribution, stating that it is corporate efforts like those that indicate that there is still a place for support for sports once companies are professional and properly approached. He promised the company proper standards.
Final touches on for Biker Fest
– Main sponsors visit National Park
The National Park was like a bee hive yesterday as everyone involved in hosting Biker Fest 2k10 was busy putting the final touches on the already transformed venue to ensure those professional stuntmen and women have the necessary tools to perform.
From the sponsors to the coordinators, to the building crew, everyone who had a role to play in making the event a success was on the tarmac as main sponsor Guyana Telephone and Telegraph Company (GT&T) visited to ensure everything was in place.
Member of the Coordinating Committee for Biker Fest, Roger Gilgeous told Kaieteur Sport that all the necessary implements are ready for use. He said the ramps were completed and the course for the big bikes were already mapped out and also ready.
Gilgeous was happy to report that all the stunt teams that include Pro Impact Stunt Team, Pure Bred Riders and Geared Up have filed into Guyana with the last set expected in around 10:45 pm last night.
He indicated that they are 100 percent on target.
A motorcade is scheduled for sometime today with Professional Skateboarder and announcer Jeff Ferris, BMX Stuntmen, Dave McDaniel, Nick Happel and Ron Thomas; BMX Stuntwoman, Cory Coffey and Skateboard Stuntman, Benji Galloway.
The Big Bikers will include Jacob Brunelle, Ricky Payne, Josue Rasario and Omar Rasario with the female sensation, Jessica Maine also set to perform. These overseas-based performers will be on the motorcade with others from the local stunt team.
Kaieteur Sport understands that the Xtreme Sport event will also feature go-kart rides for fans at the Park which is sponsored by GT&T and a Burnout Competition.
All in all, the Coordinators of the event believe that this will be one of the biggest ever.
Again, they reiterated that the stunts will be professionally done, and pleaded with patrons to not attempt any of them. The major sponsors of the event are GT&T and Ansa McAl.
