Murder suspect Terry Kissoon, according to reliable sources, may have managed to cross over into neighbouring Brazil a little over one week ago, after allegedly receiving a fair degree of assistance.
Sources within the Lethem area on Monday told Kaieteur News that Kissoon, who is wanted in connection with the murder of Troy Smith, fled to Boa Vista on August 2.
The sources further told this publication that law enforcement officials in Brazil have been notified.
Local police issued a bulletin for Kissoon last week. The police described the suspect as being of medium build, 166cm in height and fair in complexion with a large scar on his forehead. His last known address was given as 126 Thomas Street, Kitty, Georgetown.
Troy Smith was reportedly shot dead following an argument with Kissoon over a missing motorcycle.
Shawn Smith, the dead man’s brother, had told this publication that the suspect and Troy Smith shared a good relationship. He said that the suspect had brought a motorcycle from Lethem a few days before. According to Shawn Smith, his brother’s killer went to the family’s home and accused his brother of stealing the motorcycle.
Kaieteur News understands that an argument ensued and Smith was shot in his upper chest. He subsequently succumbed.
