GT&T’s Marketing Executive Wystan Robertson speaking with Kaieteur Sport at the Appreciation Ceremony organised for the CAC and national cricket teams which was held Wednesday evening at the National Cultural Centre disclosed that the Company was highly appreciative of the recent performances of the national rugby teams.
Guyana won all three tournaments that were contested recently at the National Stadium.
Robertson speaking on behalf of the Company said that it is always encouraging for sponsors when teams that they support return with outstanding results and it serve as an added incentive to not only be associated with the fraternity, but in many instances sway in their favour the continued support of the sponsor (s).
GT&T has been a prolific supporter of the Guyana Rugby Football Union and the GT&T Executive referred to them as a bunch of disciplined sportsmen and women and deserving of all the accolades they received.
He promised that the relationship between the Union and GT&T will continue, adding that even though the CEO is expected to change shortly, he is positive that the existing bond will remain intact.
Robertson informed that the Company’s involvement with the teams is not merely restricted to dollars, but there are other areas of support such as promotion that are locked into it as well.
He wished the team well at the upcoming Commonwealth Games scheduled for Pune, India.

Ramdeen added to Guyana squad for CLT20 campaign in South Africa
By Sean Devers
Guyana begin their tough assignment of representing the entire Caribbean in the Champions League in South Africa on September 12 and will commence preparations for the 10-team tournament from Monday.
Guyana played excellent team cricket and the entire 14-man squad which won the Caribbean 20/20 championships by beating Barbados in the final in Trinidad has been retained to travel to South Africa vie London for the tournament which runs from September 10-26.
Guyana will again be without Shivnarine Chanderpaul who made himself unavailable by opting to play for his English County side instead of Guyana in the Caribbean 20/20 Championships which was used to arrive at the West Indies qualifier for the Champions League and this paper understands that former West Indies under-19 opening batsman Richard Ramdeen has been added to the squad for the South Africa trip.
The 22-year-old Ramdeen, who played 5 under-19 ODIs for the West Indies in 2006, joins fellow Berbician Paul Wintz who failed to play any of the games in the Regional 20/20 tournament, as the only players in the now 15-man squad who are yet to play a match for Guyana at the senior level.
Ramdeen, who played three games for Guyana in the 2002 Regional under-15 competition in Trinidad, represented Guyana at the under-19 level in 2005 in St Vincent before playing for the West Indies under-19 team in Pakistan the next year. He then took part in the 2006 under-19 World Cup in Sri Lanka. The 24-year-old Wintz, a fast bowling all-rounder has never represented Guyana at any level.
The Guyanese, who play Royal Challengers Bangalore in their opening match on September 12, will be led by former West Indies Captain Ramnaresh Sarwan and although the Guyana Cricket Board (GCB) has not made an official release on the team to South Africa, it is believed that Manager Carl Moore, Coach Ravindra Seeram and Video Annalist Robin Singh will receive support from Coach Orin Bailey and physiotherapist Beverly Nelson as the team travel with a 5-member support staff.
Guyana Squad: Ramnaresh Sarwan (Capt.), Sewnarine Chattergoon, Travis Dowlin, Narsingh Deonarine, Royston Crandon, Chris Barnwell, Jonathon Foo, Derwin Christian, Esuan Crandon, Lennox Cush, Davendra Bishoo, Steven Jacobs, Assad Fudadin, Paul Wintz, Richard Ramdeen
