The police are yet to make any arrests after the brutal slaying of 58-year-old security guard Carl Nelson-Bollers. Bollers, who worked at the Mercy Wings Vocational School in Sophia, for over 10 years was found lying face down in a pool of blood a short distance away from the guard hut.
He had been stabbed in the stomach, head and on the arms by his attackers.
A senior police official yesterday told this newspaper that they suspect that the murder might have been committed by young boys in the Sophia area.
A post mortem examination conducted by Government Pathologist, Dr. Nehaul Singh gave Bollers’ cause of death as shock and haemorrhage due to perforation to the lungs.
At his home yesterday, his wife, Eileen Exley, was still trying to comprehend the motive behind her husband’s brutal murder. Yesterday the woman was still very adamant that her husband must have known his killers, because of the manner in which he was killed.
The woman told Kaieteur News yesterday that although her tears had dried up, no amount of time can heal the pain she is feeling.
“I stopped crying…I can’t cry no more…” The woman said that it was very hard losing someone but God knew why he took her husband and she was not going question the Father.
“I ain’t questioning God…..Carl already dead, but the people who kill him gotta live with the guilt and torment,” said Exley.
The visibly angry woman said that she was very disappointed in the community, since according to her no one rendered any assistance to her husband. The woman had told this publication that she continuously shouted for help, but no one came out to help. The woman is still suggesting that her husband might have been killed because he was a very straight forward and no-nonsense person.
“My husband loved his job….and I think is he work they killed him for.”
She said that she has been in constant contact with her husband’s employer, and they are working out a package for her. Moreover, the woman said that the family is still contemplating how they would pay for his funeral. “If I had money I would have already buried my husband….because I can’t take this run about,” said the woman. The woman said that she was urged by friends to go the Ministry of Human Services, to see what assistance can be rendered.
Bollers was discovered lying face down in a pool of blood, by a friend who later summoned his wife.
According to Exley, Bollers was still alive when she arrived on the scene, but succumbed shortly after arriving at the Georgetown Public Hospital. School officials yesterday confirmed that some confectionary was stolen from the canteen.
