The Guyana NRA rifle team continued their winning streak by winning the prestigious Overseas Challenge Cup, a four man team shoot.
The Team of four shooters comprising Team Captain Mahendra Persaud, Ransford Goodluck, John Fraser and Sigmond Douglas, picked up from where they left off in Barbados recently and beat the Falkland Islands who got the silver medal and Holland took the bronze.
Persaud topped the team shoot with 103.11v shooting two possibles at the 500 and 600 yards and 33.2 at the 300yds. Caribbean Champion Ransford Goodluck was next with 102.13v, shooting a possible at the 300 yds range.
John Fraser also contributed with a possible at the 500 yds range. The team amassed 400.14v to win the Cup and Gold Medals.
This is the best performance of a Guyanese Team at the Imperial Meet in its history. It is very commendable as it was not an easy feat to achieve, challenging world class shooters.
This is the 150th Anniversary of the Championship at Bisley, which is regarded as the mecca of shooting. The Imperial Meeting continues with the Queens Prize over the weekend.
