Stabroek Market defeated Enmore Tigers by eight wickets and carted off the spoils when the A N Electronics 10-over softball four-team competition concluded at the Georgetown Cricket Club ground, Bourda, Friday evening last.
Well done! Stabroek Market’s skipper Ryan Boodhoo, right, receives the winner’s trophy from Manager of A N Electronics, Kapil Hariprashad.
Enmore Tigers won the toss and elected to take first strike but could only muster an inadequate 86-7 at the completion of the ten overs. Stabroek Market needed just eight overs to lash off the required total (87-2).
Man-of-the-match Mandalall Doodnarine lashed four towering sixes in an unbeaten knock of 24 to see his team to their target without much fuss. Amrit Jairam supported with an equally aggressive 19.
Earlier, Enmore Tigers, led by a responsible 21 from Imran Nazeer, looked threatening. However, former Demerara Inter-County softball player Timore Mohamed grabbed three wickets for a miserly 12 runs from his allotted three overs to restrict them to the eventual total.
For their efforts Stabroek Market received a trophy, while their star player Doonarine also received a similar accolade for his effort, compliments of AN Electronics of 30 North Road, Bourda, Georgetown.
