The owner of a wagon stolen from the Kitty Masjid on Monday night has recovered it stashed in the Meadow Bank area.
According to President of the Masjid, Mohamed Hussain, he received information that the Toyota car, PLL 2722, was seen there and Ruimveldt Police last night moved it to the station.
According to Hussain, he found it strange that his car had not been hot-wired and there were no signs of a break-in of the vehicle. It was as if somebody just used a key to enter and drive it away.
Hussain’s car was parked for only 15 minutes Monday night at the Kitty Masjid when it was stolen. There were several other vehicles there, Hussain claimed.
Kaieteur News, in an earlier report, had mistakenly reported that the car belonged to the Imam of the place of worship.
“It did strike me as strange, since there were more flashy cars there. Mine is a simple vehicle. Additionally the gates are always open,” Hussain said yesterday.
