Police on the West Coast of Berbice arrested Joel Craig, called ‘Li’l Mouth’ of Number Five village, West Coast Berbice, with over 18 grams of Cannabis on Sunday, at No 6 village West Coast Berbice. Kaieteur News understands that one of the senior police officers attached to the West Berbice division, was in the vicinity of the Number Six horse race course where a race was being staged, when he noticed Craig walking on the road and looking suspicious. The man at the time was wearing a pair of three-quarters pants. The officer identified himself and challenged the man, who then attempted to flee. He was subsequently subdued by the officer, arrested and taken to the Fort Wellington Police station. A check on his person relieved that he had 18 packets of marijuana in one pocket. In another pocket a quantity of leaves were found and yet in another pocket, paper used to wrap marijuana for smoking. When the contents were weighed the drug amounted to 18 grams. He is likely o be charged soon.
