Rookie champion Shayne Seebarran told Kaieteur Sport during an interview yesterday that even though he has moved up to the Group 2B category he is still anticipating good results.
Seebarran, who is the reigning rookie champion, was forced to quit the class due to a combination of reasons.
First his outstanding performances over the past year where he registered over nine victories and second his recent upgrade of the car made him ineligible to remain in the category.
Seebarran, who drives a turbo-charged Toyota Starlet, said he will be taking no prisoners tomorrow when the starting flag is lowered.
“I will let them know that I’m no pushover despite being a newcomer in the division and is clearly not fazed by the new challenge,” the young Seebarran told this newspaper in the presence of his father and mentor Ray Seebarran.
He said that despite the new challenge he is still confident of being competitive, adding that his ascendancy to the new division hasn’t affected his positive outlook.
Touching on the recent work that was done on the car, Seebarran revealed that the team is satisfied with its progression and expects no problems come tomorrow.
His father disclosed that unlike many other drivers who’re pointing towards competing in Barbados next month, they will be taking it slowly and have already opted not to go there, but rather use this Meet to gauge where the car’s at in terms of its development heading into the November event.
“We are looking to get a clearer understanding of the car, while I will also use this Meet to gain valuable experience for the rest of the year,” Seebarran mentioned.
He extended thanks to the following sponsors Sankar’s Auto Works, Ray’s One Stop Auto Parts, Sanjay’s Jewellery, Guy America Construction and Interstate Batteries, while similar recognition was paid to the team headed by his father.
