The waiver of visa requirements for Haitian business persons traveling to Guyana has been put in place by the Guyana Government. However, some conditions apply.
The policy decision taken at the last CARICOM Heads of Government meeting held early this month states that this only applies to persons who are in possession of valid United States of America or Canadian visas.
The Heads of Government of CARICOM agreed to put in place arrangements for the waiver for Haitian business persons desirous of traveling to other CARICOM Member States.
President Bharrat Jagdeo had given a commitment that Guyana would be implemented immediately. This latest development demonstrates the commitment of Guyana towards the rebuilding of Haiti, whereby the private sector of Haiti is further facilitated to participate meaningfully and effectively in the rebuilding and development process of Haiti. It is also a demonstration of the Government’s commitment to the regional integration process.
Guyana has a reciprocal Agreement with the Government of Haiti for the abolition of visas for persons holding diplomatic, service and official passports. This was another CARICOM Heads of Government decision issued some time ago.
