The Castrol Strikers/Guyana Volleyball Federation (GVF)-organised Tournament sponsored by Tradewind Tankers, Shipping Company serves off today, at the Cliff Anderson Sports Hall.
The tournament will see teams from Berbice, Linden, West Demerara and Georgetown battle each other over a period of three months at different venues.
The teams from Berbice are Rollers, Port Mourant Jaguars, an Under-19 unit and Port Mourant Training School, while West Demerara will be represented by two teams from Young Achievers and Goed Fortuin.
It was disclosed that Linden, Guyana Defence Force and a Georgetown-based female squad will join host Castrol Stikers.
Three formats will be used during the competition and they are the 2s, 4s and 6s and teams will need a minimum of seven players.
The first two months winners and second placed finishers will receive $20,000 and $10,000 respectively, while the overall champion will take away a top prize of $80,000, runners-up $40,000 and third place $20,000.
The dates for play are as follows: July 24 at CASH and Goed Fortuin; August 14 and 28 in Berbice and then back to CASH on September 11 and 18.
According to the Organisers, games will start at 13:00 hrs on July 17, while the official Opening Ceremony begins at 17:00 hrs.
