Equipped with a brand new engine and a transformation of confidence, Group 3 driver Raj Boodhoo told Kaieteur Sport during an interview yesterday that he is in excellent mental shape, while the early testing of the car indicated that it is in good shape.
Boodhoo, who drives a Honda Civic, said that he is looking forward to a successful day after concluding testing on the Dyno Jet machine which determines the car’s durability and horsepower at Industrial Site.
“I’m quite happy with what I’ve seen so far and as afar as I can see there is no reason why I should not be in the reckoning and possibly vying for the top spot,” Boodhoo said.
He mentioned the names of Trinidadian Ravi Singh, Kamal Seebarran, the Gayadin brothers and Ryan Rahaman as likely challengers to his domination come Sunday, at the South Dakota Circuit.
“I’m very confident that I could upstage any one of those drivers on the day and judging from the early performance of the car so far, everything seems to be coming along very well,” Boodhoo informed.
Asked whether he was using the Meet like many of the other drivers to assess their performance ahead of the second leg of the Caribbean Series scheduled for Bushy Park in Barbados, Boodhoo stated that his participation at that event hinges on what he does this Sunday.
He indicated that the Meet should see the full participation of all the locals, while the usual set of overseas competitors have already availed themselves for the day.
He urged all motor racing lovers to come to the Circuit and witness a day of intense rivalry among the best drivers and riders in every category. Boodhoo also took timeout to thank his team of mechanics, especially Kenneth Rambir, who all did a terrific job in getting the car ready for race day.
He revealed that the car was set up right here in Guyana and he is grateful to the team for a doing a splendid job.
