P&P Insurance Brokers Ltd once again displayed its unwavering commitment to the development of sports when it undertook to sponsor the annual Guyana Lawn Tennis Association –organised ‘Summer Camp’ which served off yesterday at the Pegasus Hotel Hardcourts.
Managing Director of the Company Bishwa Panday in his comments at the opening ceremony said that they were extremely pleased to once again partner the GLTA in running off the 6th Annual Camp, adding that it was a fair indication of their commitment to the sport.
He noted that he was particularly pleased with the amount of young individuals present and commended the parents for allowing them to participate in the Camp.
Panday said that the sport is a very healthy outdoor activity that warrants widespread support and they are happy to be part of the support group.
He then commended the Executive for the way they’ve managed the sport, adding that they’ve brought energy, vision and drive, qualities that are lacking in a few associations.
The Director said it was his fervent wish that the participants have lots of fun over the next two weeks and hopefully during that period another rising star emerge.
GLTA Secretary Ramesh Seebarran in his remarks first welcomed all the participants, before thanking the Hotel for granting them the use of the facility.
“I really want to thank the players for having the desire for being out here today after the scheduled opening day was rained out, while we must not forget the sponsor who has contributed his money for the sixth year running and who is also involved in many other sports,” Seebarran stated.
President of the GLTA Christopher Ram in his presentation spoke of the benefits of being involved in the sport which he said inculcate discipline which evidently creates focus and quality.
The Camp which has over 50 participants runs from July 13-23.
