Dear Editor
I have seen that every opposition commentator and letter writer is attacking Dr Randy Persaud. I tried to find out why this is so and started to read Dr Persaud’s articles and letters.
I find Randy Persaud’s writings very informative. He has a very good analytical mind and his writings are always very interesting. He is obviously knowledgeable. It is to the benefit of the Guyanese people that Randy Persaud is writing in our press. This man is an intellectual of quality.
He also writes without hate and the venom that is so characteristic of the opposition sympathizers. His conclusions are always based on facts and figures.
I see that some of those in the opposition say that he had a job as a lecturer at a University in the USA. I therefore can’t understand why he is being so heavily attacked for coming home.
It obviously means that Mr Persaud is making a sacrifice to be here in Guyana to make a contribution, for I am sure that his earnings in the U.S. were much more than he is being paid here.
If I am right then Randy Persaud is a patriot and his contribution to political and social debate, here, is of a very high standard.
I wish we had more like him writing in our mass media to lift the political consciousness of our people.
Nazima Alli
Editor’s note: Dr Randy Persaud has returned to the United States and he left in a hurry.
