Dear Editor,
I wish to refer to the piece, Elected dictatorship and elected oligarchy – battle cry of the ‘new opposition’, carried in Kaieteur News letter columns of July 12 instant, by Dr. Prem Misir, one of the PPP Government spoke person, in which he now publicly attempts to justify the despicable dictatorship of the Jagdeo’s regime.
Is this the PPP first public acknowledgment or justification of their dictatorship? That the USA may be oligarchic, and does well nonetheless? How well do the Guyanese people do under this kleptokratic oligarchy and enthnocracy? Is that the measure of a civilized and democratic society today?
The Chilean people were burdened with Pinochet dictatorship for more than 25 years, during which their state generated statistics (and others) proclaimed high economic growth! Is this how the substance of person or a society and the value of human life to be valued or measured? Dr Misir finds all this amusing and looks for pleasantries and looks for comedies in our miserable lives.
He should be reminded that the tragedies he finds there instead, is of their own, the PPP’s, making!
