The history making ‘Lady Jags’ will feature in two fund raising events on July 30 and August 1 in Canada which will be promoted by Island Mix Restaurant & Lounge.
According to Programme Director of the Guyana Football Federation Women’s Programme, Colin Baker, The GFF has supported the Women’s Programme to date with approximately US$200,000.
“Although we have received some sponsorship to date and a promise from the government, we still have a budget of US$1.2 million to get to Germany. We hope that corporate Guyana, locally and in the Diaspora come on board sooner rather than later. We go international with the Gold Cup and sponsors stand to benefit in a big way for their brands.”
Baker has reported that Island Mix Restaurant & Lounge has thrown their full support behind the Lady Jags and will first host a Social on Friday July 30 from 18:30hrs at the Island Mix Restaurant & Lounge Pickering Location, 1050 Brock Road (905) 831-1649. Some of the proceeds from this event will be presented to the Lady Jags.
A fund raising game will be played against the Pickering Under-21 Provincial team on August 1st at the 3000 seat Esther Shiner Stadium, North York kicking off at 14:30hrs. Admission is $20.00 and tickets will go on sale from tomorrow.
Baker notes that it is their aim to full the Stadium for this game which will be promoted by Island Mix Restaurant & Lounge which will do all the posters and advertising at both their locations, Pickering and Vaughan. Tickets can also be purchased at http://www.guysportsdevelopment.com/ladyjags.html.
Technical Director Mark Rodrigues informed that only the Toronto based players will be used for the game.
“New USA based and Canadian recruits to the Programme will be invited to participate.
They will play with the Pickering team which will allow the Lady Jags coaching staff the opportunity to properly assess them for future competition.”
