A 26-year-old Guyanese man, Ashton Gibbons was stabbed to death on July 9 in the rural village of Marigot, Dominica. According to reports, Gibbons was stabbed several times in the heart, hip and on the side of his body on the road during an altercation with two men.
The man’s wife, Jahsylma Gibbons, said that on the morning of the incident, two young men went to her home to ask for her husband.
She said her husband was not at home at the time and the men left.
According to her, when her husband returned later, she asked him to take her to work and to take their vehicle to the mechanic afterwards.
Shortly after her husband left, the two men returned and asked for him again.
When they were told that he was not there, the men left once more, she said.
Mrs Gibbons received the news later that morning of her husband’s death. The woman said that according to the information she received, her husband was stopped by two men, one of whom reportedly attacked him.
She was told that her husband screamed out the name of one of the men three times while he was being attacked. Gibbons was the father of two.
