The Guyana Prison Service (GPS) imprisoned their colleagues from the Guyana Fire Service (GFS) and hosts, Guyana Police Force (GPF) to take the first lien on the Ministry of Home Affairs Inter Agency Dominos competition organised by Sports Officer Ovid Glasglow.
The inaugural tournament which will be played every month at varying locations saw the Prison service rattling up 79 games to leave Fire burning on 70 games and the Police Force bringing up the rear two games back.
Captain of the victorious Guyana Prison Service team Beverley Critchlow is of smiles as she receives the trophy from Ovid Glasglow in the presence of equally elated teammates.
For the winners, Allison Patterson led with 16 games but the game high maximum of 18 was registered by GPF’s Devon Joseph while his teammate Gavin Marshall backed up with 16 but their contributions failed to lift their team out of the cellar spot.
All the teams will refocus and regroup ahead of next month’s competition which is slated for Friday August 13 and the second Friday of each month subsequently. According to Glasglow the first team to win the trophy on three consecutive occasions will have it for keeps and if no team achieves such a feat, which ever wins the most competitions for the year will keep the trophy.
Glasglow is expressing gratitude to Banks DIH Ltd., Medrick Short & Sons and Payless Get More of Regent Street for their support.
