The Rising Sun Turf Club in collaboration with the Brotherhood of St Andrew in the Anglican Diocese stages has planned their grand annual one day fund raising Charity meet at the club’s track, Rising Sun, Arima Park West Coast Berbice.
Seven races are on the days card with over $3 Million dollars in Prizes money up for grabs. There are three main line events listed on the day’s card the C, Three year old Guyana and West Indies bred and the F class races topping the list. This race meet was previously postponed.
So far the cream of the crop in the horseracing circle has been listed to participate and a bumper crowd is expected to throng the venue and be a part of the days programme.
The feature C class event is the main attraction on the day’s agenda and will be sponsored by Banks DIH limited which has pumped close to $1M in sponsorship into the event. The winner is slated to run away with $400,000 plus the Banks DIH trophy. The distance is 1400M.
The 3yrs race for Guyana and West Indies bred horses is expected to be as equally as exciting. This distance has been pegged at 1300M which ironically is the distance for the rest of the races. With an encouraging amount of $250,000 and trophy as the winners take, compliments of Dr. Phillip DaSilva, the event promises to be keenly contested.
The F and lower showdown sponsored by A. Ally and Sons General Store will see the animals blasting the track for $160,000 in what is expected to be another close race.
The winner of the G and lower gallop is set to take away $140,000.
Those entering for the highly competitive ‘I’ and lower race are expected to race away with $120,000 top prize. The Division One and Two contests will see the horses competing for a winning purse of $100,000 first prize.
The final event is for Division three horses which has a winner’s money of $ 80,000 as it top prize.
The champion jockey and Trainer will receive trophies compliments of Ramesh Sunich of Trophy Stall, Bourda market.
A new stand has been built for the absolute comfort of horse racing fans.
