– expects to generate more speed
Clearly at ease now after all the recent modifications that was made to his Ford Escort, Group 2A driver Jad Rahaman exhumed confidence about doing well at the upcoming Guyana Motor Racing & Sports Club July 18 Meet, set for the South Dakota Circuit.
Speaking with Kaieteur Sport yesterday at his brother’s residence at Rahaman’s Park, the veteran Jad revealed that the car has undergone some serious modifications recently and therefore has more throttle response which should see him generating more speed than before which will make him very competitive.
“The car will be more driveable and more competitive than the last Meet when my day was ruined after being shunted off the track by a very indiscriminate driver,” the senior Rahaman disclosed.
Rahaman recalled that even though he had started from the back of the grid after experiencing tyre problems in the first race, he had managed to take the lead during the course of the second race, before the unfortunate accident occurred.
He warned that they’ve raised the bar in terms of the car’s development and was optimistic that they will secure good results, while giving them a good assessment ahead of the Caribbean Series scheduled for Barbados in August.
“I think we have the car at a point right now where I feel we could be very competitive both here and in Barbados which is really home turf for me, having won the Group 2 category in 2007,” Rahaman said.
A strong advocate for more support for the smaller categories, Rahaman revealed that he is in discussions with the authorities in Barbados to have the Group 2 Division have its own regional title alike the Group 4 category.
Rahaman expressed thanks to the following entities for their continued support over the years and they are Valvoline, GEMS Magazine, Stag Beer, Guysons Engineering and JR Burgers.
