Nicknamed after one of the most exciting Formula One drivers Britain’s Lewis Hamilton, young Shifter Kart driver Denzil Hopkinson will be hoping that his performance on July 18 matches that of his more famous counterpart.
Hopkinson, whose father Harold is also involved in motor racing, could be regarded as one of the new kids on the block in the sport and with his recently acquired CRG Shifter Kart which is fitted with a CRS S88 engine and a 6-speed gear-box, he will definitely be hoping to throw down the gauntlet on his more experienced opponents in Stanley Ming snr, Jerry Max Gouveia, Marcus Fiedtkou and Shane Ally, all seasoned karters.
According to the senior Hopkinson, preparations are going well and Denzil has adapted admirably and he expects him to feature come race day.
“All the karts are extremely fast and competitive so he will have to be at his best which I expect him to be when the starting flag is lowered,” the senior Hopkinson said.
He added that there are about 8 Shifters that will be vying for top honours and that should make the races very exciting.
