– Season tickets going for an affordable cost of $1000
With an affordable cost of $1000 for a season ticket to view all three of the upcoming rugby tournaments to be staged at the National Stadium, Providence, President of the Guyana Rugby Football Union (GRFU) Christopher ‘Kit’ Nascimento urged all Guyanese to come out and support the Men’s and Women’s teams that will participate in the CAC and NACRA Championships.
According to the GRFU President, the holder of a season ticket will be eligible to witness all the games, while a fee of $300 will be charged to enter the Stadium on any day.
Nascimento agreed that the sport of rugby is not as popular as some of the other sports played here, but with Guyana being the current Regional champions in both categories, Guyanese should not miss the opportunity to se their stars in action against the best teams in Central America and the Caribbean.
He added that with the possibility of the winner of the Men’s segment of the NACRA Tournament going on to compete at the Pan Am Games and the IRB World Sevens Series, the national ruggers will need all the local support necessary to once again thwart the ambitions of teams such as Trinidad & Tobago and Mexico.
Additionally, Nascimento reminded that patrons coming to the Stadium will be subjected to all the rules that govern the facility so there will be a high degree of comfort and safety with the Guyana Police Force (GPF) and other related security personnel in attendance on every match day.
The CAC Championship runs from July 24-25 and that will be followed by the NACRA Women’s from July 26-27 with the Men’s Competition climaxing the event from July 29-30.
Nascimento informed that many Companies and individuals have offered their support in kind and cash and he took the opportunity to extend thanks on behalf of the Union to the GPF, especially Commissioner Henry Greene, MMC, Ministry of Health, Splashmin’s Resort, the Red Cross and all the other volunteers.
The Opening Ceremony for the CAC Tournament will start at 10:30 hrs on July 24, while the first game commences at 11:00 hrs.
Meanwhile, the final practice session at the Stadium will be held today from 13:00 hrs.
