In recognition of yet another milestone attained by centenarian, Mabel Albertha Connell, Food for the Poor Guyana Inc., on Wednesday made a notable endowment.
In a statement issued by FFTP, it was noted that the resident of the St Joseph Mercy Hospital received a gift honouring her on her 105th birth anniversary.
Making the presentation on behalf of the charitable organisation was Alvin Doris, Senior Public Relations Personnel. The gift package which included a toiletries gift set, pillow and a large comforter, was entrusted into the care of Charisse Gordon, granddaughter of “Aunty Mabel”, as the centenarian is fondly called.
Aunty Mabel who hails from Agricola, East Bank Demerara, has been a resident of the Mercy Hospital for the past seven years. Most of her relatives are either deceased or have migrated.
Gordon, upon receipt of the kind gesture, expressed gratitude for the tangible support. She recently returned to Guyana to celebrate this significant milestone with her grandmother.
According to the FFTP statement, the Management and Staff of the Kaieteur News deserve commendation for publicising Aunty Mabel’s story as it is believed that without the publication, FFTP may not have been able to make the timely donation.
It was also noted that the entity prays for Aunty Mabel’s health and looks forward to celebrating another milestone with her.
